Synopsis

SARAH WIENER
A film cuisine on the move

Sarah Wiener is a charming Austrian in Berlin, who for ten years has been running a film-catering service, which is now one of the biggest and most successful. At the start of the 90s this daughter of writer and gastronome Oswald Wiener came to Berlin, more or less by chance. After years of doing odd jobs, she gradually became obsessed with film catering. Now, with the help of 25 full-time employees and 50 free-lancers, she caters for the growing film and television market in Berlin and Brandenburg. Except for one cook, they all lack qualifications, like her.

In the big kitchen on Chausseestraße folk are rushing around. Today, like most days, there are four different productions to be catered for. Sarah Wiener believes that her success has a lot to do with the ingredients of her team. None of her employees cooks according to recipes. Two mobile kitchens are continually on the go, and another is her newest acquisition and pride and joy, an eleven-metre long super luxury truck, 'Big Berta', which was made for her specially in Müncheberg out in Brandenburg.

Thomas Grube and Malin Büttner accompany this unique chef for a week, observing her in her Berlin canteen and journeying with her to a film production at the North Sea.
