On the 12th September 2005 the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, BOOMTOWN MEDIA and Capelight Pictures jointly issued the two DVD-editions of RHYTHM IS IT! Beside the SINGLE-DVD there appeared at the same time the 3-DVD COLLECTOR'S EDITION with extensive bonus material.

RHYTHM IS IT! was able to stay in German cinemas for more than 85 weeks, for 50 of which it was even in the top 30 of the charts. It was viewed by more than 649,000 people in German cinemas alone and won the Bavarian Film Prize in 2004, the Critics’ Prize in 2005 and two German film prizes in 2006 (best documentary film & best cutting). These successes and the public’s overwhelming response motivated the producers Uwe Dierks and Thomas Grube (also director) to produce a DVD with a great love of and attention to detail.

RHYTHM IS IT! was produced on the highest technical level currently available (film format: HD | sound format: 5.1 Dolby Digital). In terms of its technique (Multi Angle/ Dolby 5.1/ DTS) and its comprehensive program (300 minutes about the film and the project, including the complete dance and orchestral performance of Stravinsky's 'THE RITE OF SPRING'), even the 3-DVD collector’s edition goes far beyond the usual DVD offer in German films. 

An extra delicacy consists of the MAKING OF on the DVD: There are many new scenes and interviews from the RHYTHM IS IT! project and also from the dance projects 'DAPHNIS et CHLOÉ' (2004) and 'FIREBIRD' (2005) in the following years. We are convinced to have appealed successfully to the RHYTHM IS IT! community and to DVD fans in general.
